About Me:

Russell Packard, M.D. is board certified in Neurology, Psychiatry, with a subspecialty in Headache Medicine. Dr. Packard graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1971. He then completed an Internal Medicine Internship at San Diego Naval Hospital, a Psychiatry residency at Oakland Naval Hospital and a Neurology Residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Subsequently, he left the Navy as a Commander in 1980 to start a private practice in Pensacola, where he was the Director of a headache and head injury clinic until 2000.

Dr. Packard spent four years at Texas Tech University as Professor of Neurology, where he served as the director of both, the Headache and Head Injury Program as well as the Residency Training Program. In 2005, while at the University of North Texas School of Medicine, he was Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, as well as Vice-Chair of the Department. Two years later, he decided to leave academic medicine and return to private practice in Palestine. He selected Palestine as he loves the locale and since there was not a neurologist in the area; Dr. Packard felt that he could really add to the health care community.

Dr. Russell Packard is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American College of Physicians. During his professional career he has published over 80 papers and given hundreds of presentations. He was chosen Who's Who in America by both Kipling's and Marquis in 2010; he also received the Consumer's Research Council of America Award and award for Excellence in Neurological Education by the American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Packard currently practices General Adult Neurology with special interests in many areas, including headache, migraine, head injury, concussion and memory disorders. On the lighter side, Dr. Packard's hobbies are hunting, fishing, and astronomy
