About Me:
Dr. Robert F. McFarlane was born in Palestine, Texas in 1952 and graduated from its high school with honors in 1970. He then attended Harvard College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with Highest Honors in Chemistry. Subsequently, he graduated from the Harvard Medical School in 1978 and trained at Harvard teaching hospitals in Boston, becoming board certified in Internal Medicine and also a board certified Cardiologist. In 1984, he moved back to Palestine, where he has been practice ever since.
Dr. McFarlane specializes in preventive cardiology, emphasizing exquisite cholesterol and blood pressure control. Also, he has a large practice in chronic coronary disease; in this endeavor, he focuses his efforts on trying to make sure that a patient's bypass surgery or coronary stenting will not have to be repeated. A corollary of this is that, hopefully, visits to the emergency room will never be necessary.
In addition to old fashioned clinical medicine, the latest technological advances in digital echocardiography, nuclear medicine, impedance pleythysmography, and soon to be coronary cat scanning are the major tools used in the effort to reign in coronary artery disease.
Valvular heart disease, cardiac related fluid imbalances, and diseases of the heart muscle, and chronic management thereof, are also a major part of his practice.
No malpractice claim has ever been filed against the doctor in over 20 years of practice.
He is also renowned as a conservationist having founded the Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation, received a Texas Parks and Wildlife land steward award, and is owner of the hunting/birding preserve The BigWoods on the Trinity near Tennessee Colony, Texas.
So there, call 903 723 8800, because in Robert F. McFarlane M.D., you have the rarest of commodities: a home-grown Harvard trained country doctor boarded in Cardiology and Internal Medicine.
